Edwin H.8 Whitney (Isaiah7, Cyrus6, Isaiah5, Isaiah4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Isaiah7 and Mary A. (Gove) Whitney, was born 10 Sep 1851, Harvard, MA,[1] and died after 1930.

He married, 6 Jun 1875, Worcester, MA, Mary E. Albert, daughter of Charles Babbitt and Charlotte L. (Eaton) Albert.[2] She was born 14 Jan 1847, Boston, MA, and died after 1930.

Edwin H. Whitney was born at the old homestead on 10 Sep 1851, and lived there continuosly until sixteen years of age. He then lived with his sister and attended the high school in Marlborough, MA, for a few months, and after a few months at home went to the Westbrook seninary at Portland, ME, for one tern, In the fall of 1868 he entered the first class at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, graduating from there in 1871 with the degree of B. S., having taken the course in mechanical engineering. He remained in Worcester until 1875, some three years being in the railroad office of the master mechanic of Worcester & Nashua railroad. In the summer of 1875 he married and moved to Keokuk, IA, and worked one year as a chief clerk of the general superintendent of Keokuk & Des Moines railway. Then returned east and during 1877 and '78 was at Harvard and the machine shops in Lowell and Worcester, MA. In 1879 he went to Providence as draughtsman for the master mechanic of the Providence & Worcester railroad. In 1882 went to work for the American Ship Windlass Company, of Providence, RI, and has since been in their employ as draughtsman, superintendent, mechanical and constructing engineer; the latter position he now occupies. He is a member of the American Society of Naval Architects; resided Rumford, RI.

iv. George Walter Whitney, b. 12 Jul 1880 (twin), Providence, RI; m. Aurie Alvira Cooper.
v. Harry Albert Whitney, b. 4 Jul 1883, RI; d. 20 Oct 1883, RI.
