George H. Whitney (Frederick), son of Frederick and Margaret (-----) Whitney, was born about 12 Feb 1827, or about 1830, Boston, MA, and died 1 Jul 1861, Gettysburg, PA, aged 34 years 3 months 19 days.[1]

He "of Danvers" married, 7 May 1851, Lynn, MA, Mary Jane Gilman "of Lynn",[2] daughter of Daniel and Mary (Southwick) Gilman. She was born 8 Nov 1832, Lynn, MA, and died 4 Dec 1912, aged 80 years 27 days, of angina pectoris.[3] She was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton, MA.

At marriage, he was a cordwainer.

George served in Co. I, 12th MA Volunteer Infantry, and was killed at the Battle of Gettysburg.

iii. Charles Henry Whitney, b. 5 Jan 1856, Easton, MA;[7] d. 25 Oct 1887, Stoughton, MA, aged 31 years 7 months 20 days, of consumption, brakeman, single;[8] m. 14 Jun 1876, Saugus, MA, or Stoughton, MA, Lizzie F. Dizer/Dyer, b. ca. 1856, Saugus, MA, dau. of Francis/Frank H. and Charlotte W. (-----) Dizer/Dyer;[9] no children. There may have been a divorce, since she m.(2) 6 Dec 1883, Saugus, MA, Edward L. Furber, b. ca. 1855, Boston, MA, son of Daniel S. and Jane H. (-----) Furber,[10] by whom she had six children.
