Family:Whitney, Isaac Rogers (1841-1875)
Isaac Rogers8 Whitney (Obediah Higgins7, Levi6, Abel5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Obediah Higgins and Louisa (Bangs) Whitney, was born 16 May 1841, Windham, ME, and died 26 May 1875, Deering, ME, aged 34 years.
He married, 18 Jan 1867, Windham, ME or 26 Jan 1867, Portland, ME, Elizabeth Libby Varney, daughter of Thomas and Mary (Nason) Varney. She was born 16 Feb 1845, Windham, ME, and died 4 May 1921, Ware, MA. She is buried in the Hope Cemetery in Worcester, MA.
Isaac and Elizabeth were married on "The most stormy day of the year and the snow was to a great depth" according to the JP that married them. They were married in Windham by Justice of Peace, Charles Jones. Isaac was a resident of Portland and Elizabeth was a resident of Windham.
Isaac died 26 May 1875 at 34 years in Deering, ME, from a disease resulting from a wound to the thigh from a musket ball during the Civil War. He also had consumption at the time of his death. He had joined Co. F 16th Regiment of the Maine Volunteer Infantry 28 May 1862, made Sergeant 14 Aug 1862, and made a 2nd Lieutenant 28 Aug 1864. Besides being wounded at Chancellorsville, he was sick with lung problems most of his military career. He and his widow received pensions from the U.S. government. Isaac was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Portland, ME.

He may be the Frank L. Whitney who m. (int. 21 Apr 1894, Auburn, ME), and Grace E. Sturtivant, "both of Auburn".[1] iv. Frederick Whitney, b. 1875, Deering, ME. Frederick died as a child and is buried with his father in Evergreen Cemetery, Portland, ME.
