Family:Whitney, Orlando (1792-1872)
Orlando7 Whitney (Jonathan6, David5, Jonathan4, Jonathan3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Jonathan6 and Lucy (Washburn) Whitney, was born 22 Mar 1792, Conway, MA,[1] and died 27 Jan 1872, Comanche County, TX.
He married firstly, about 1822, Phebe Crossman, parentage unknown. She was born about 1803, and died 13 Jun 1838, Conway, MA, aged 35 years, of fever.[2]
In 1830, Orlando and his family are almost certainly recorded with his father, Jonathan, in Conway, Franklin Co., MA. The family consisted of 1 male 60-70 (father Jonathan Whitney), 1 female 60-70 (mother Lucy), 1 male 30-40 (Orlando), 1 female 20-30 (Phebe), 1 male 5-10 (Alfred), 1 male under 5 (Andrew), and 1 female under 5 (Amelia).
He married secondly, 9 Dec 1838, Conway, MA, Caroline Stewart.[3] She was born about 1808 and died 28 Jun 1840, Conway, MA, aged 32 years.[4]
He married thirdly, between 1840 and 1850, Prudence -----, parentage unknown. She was born about 1792, and died between 1850 and 1857.
He married fourthly, 12 Jun 1857, Comanche County, TX, Hannah Niel, parentage unknown. She was born about 1811, MO, and died after 1860.
He was a farmer. He went to Texas.
It is supposed that a school teacher by the name of Whitney, who, with her school, was attacked by Indians in Western Texas a number of years ago, and who lost her life in successfully defending her pupils, was a daughter of Orlando, but could get no positive proof.
