Thomas Hendly Whitney (Elisha), son of Elisha and Lydia (Bass) Whitney, was born about Jun 1803, Annapolis, NS, and died 25 Dec 1862, Newburyport, MA, aged 59 years 6 months, of consumption.[1]
He married, say 1832, Salome P. Kniffin, daughter of Andrew and Mercy (Whitman) Kniffin. She was born 2 Apr 1813, Albany, Nova Scotia, and died 12 Jul 1905, Newburyport, MA, aged 92 years 3 months 10 days, of heart exhaustion.[2] She was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport, MA.
They lived in Springfield, NS, and Clinton and Newburyport, MA. He was a ship carpenter.
They were admitted to the church in Lancaster, MA, in 1845.[3]

James Edward Whitney, b. 5 Nov 1836, Springfield, NS; m. Susan Simpson. iv. William Alden Whitney, b. 16 Nov 1838, Aylesford, NS; m. Elizabeth Ann Tuttle. v. George H. Whitney, b. 8 Feb 1843, Boston, MA; d. Jan 1865, Boston, MA, lost at sea with the bark "Race Horse".
