I was able to track down the Samuel Whitney you mentioned in the 1850 & 1860 census records. In 1860, there were two young Dickson children living with them, so I am pretty sure this is the correct family. I found our family group page for this Samuel, and sure enough, his daughter Martha Ann Whitney is listed as having married Richard Dixon. I've added in your lineage on your user page, and you should be able to easily click through to view the information we have on them.
