2684 VII. Esther Tullar, b. at St. Albans, Vt.; married James Madison Haynes. They were living at St. Albans Bay, Vt., in May 1874.
2685 VIII. Louisa Tullar, b. at St. Albans, Vt.; married William Sherwood, of Western New York; married (2d), ----- Lattin; married (3d), ----- Stephens, with whom she dwelt at Medina, N.Y., in 1874.
2686 IX. Mariette Tullar, b. at St. Albans, Vt., 17 July 1819; married there, 25 Sept. 1843, Isaac Brock Sterling, a fruit-dealer, son of Henry and Abigail (Church) Sterling, of Simcoe, Canada West. He was born near Hamilton, C. W., 2 Jan. 1818. They dwelt at Simcoe from 1843 to 1848; at Gait C. W., from 1848 to 1849; at Lockport, N. Y., from 1849 to 1850; at Milwaukee and Racine, Wis., from 1850 to July 1851; and then settled at Chicago, Ill., where she was living in June 1874, at 11 Forest Avenue. He died in Chicago, 20 Oct. 1865, and was buried in Graceland Cemetery. 7842

2688 I. Alvin Gates, b. in Hinesburgh, Vt., 29 Ap. 1800; died 11 March 1802.
2689 II. Melinda Gates, b. in Malone, N. Y., 26 May 1802; married at Perry, N. Y., 13 Oct. 1820, Freeman Walden,1 a farmer and minister of the "Christian" Church, son of John and Lydia (Palmer) Walden, of Scotland, in Windham, Conn., where he was born, 17 Aug. 1796. They settled, in 3822, at Ellington, N. Y., where she died 24 Nov. 1835, and was buried in a family cemetery. He left Ellington in 1839; dwelt in Busti, and Harmony, N. Y., till 1845; and then moved to Humphrey Centre, N. Y., where he died, 23 June 1874, in his 78th year. 7846
2690 III. Noel Congar Gates, b. in Malone, N. Y., 16 Sept. 1804; married at Ellington, N. Y., 2 Jan. 1825, Dorothy Greene, who was born 28 Nov. 1803, and died 31 Jan. 1846; married (2d), at Randolph, N. Y., Sibyl Thompson; and died in Chickasaw Co., Iowa, 3 March 1857, and was buried there. 7853

  1 He married (2d), 1 Aug. 1847, in Wyoming Co., N. Y., Mrs. Julia French, by whom he had one child, Rosina Walden, born in Humphrey, N. Y., 29 Ap. 1849. He served in the war of 1812.
