4002 IV. Ruth Whitson, b. at Plain Edge, in Oyster Bay, L. I., 19 July 1819; died unmarried, at the house of her brother, Whitney Valentine Whitson, in Deer Park, L. I., 30 Sept. 1871.
4003 V. Susan Jane Whitson, b. at Plain Edge, in Oyster Bay, L. I., 27 Sept. 1820; married at Babylon, L. I., 29 Dec. 1850, by Rev. Edward J. Vail, Presbyterian, to Henry Burr, a farmer, son of Charles and Keturah (Sammis) Burr, of Huntington, L. I., where he was born 5 July 1816. They dwelt, for one year, at Huntington; two years at Cold Spring, L. I.; two years at Half Hollow Hills, L. I.; three years at Bedelltown, L. I.; five years at Bethpage, L I.; five years at Farmingdale, L. I.; and then settled at Oak Dale, L. I., where they were living in July 1875. 10638
4004 VI. John Gilbert Whitson, b. at Half Hollow Hills, in Huntington, L. I., 24 Jan. 1824; a farmer; married there, 20 May 1851, Sarah Howard Wickes, dau. of John Hezekiah and Abigail (Howard) Wickes, of Half Hollow Hills. She was born at Lloyd's Neck, L. I., 29 March 1827. They settled at Half Hollow Hills, where he died 7 Ap. 1871. She was living at Deer Park, L. I., in Aug. 1876. 10641
4005 VII. Whitney Valentine Whitson, a railway-superintendent; married Hannah Townsend. He lived in Brooklyn, N. Y., in 1867; and in Deer Park, L. I., in July 1875.

4006 I. Darling Brush Whitney, b. at Huntington, L. I., 14 Sept. 1810; a physician and surgeon; practised in Newtown, L. I., from March 1832 till May 1833; and then settled in the east part of the town of Huntington, where he acquired an extensive practice, which he continued till 1 May 1851. He removed, 13 Oct. 1853, to East Norwich, Oyster Bay, L. I.; and was living there in Oct. 1873. He was married, 3 Dec. 1833, at Dix Hills, Huntington, by Rev. George R. Parbert, Methodist Episcopal, to Harriet North Vail,1 dau. of Philetus and Abigail (Goddard) Vail, of Dix Hills, where she was born 22 March 1817. She died from a disease of the heart, 3 July 1855, at East Norwich; and was buried in Fountain Hill Cemetery, Woodbury, L. I. He was married (2d), 23 Feb. 1860, at East Norwich, by Rev. John Cooke, Baptist, to Letitia Jane Franklin,2 born in Philadelphia, Penn., 20 Dec. 1838, dau. of Townsend Underhill and Elizabeth (McCalla) Franklin, who lived in East Norwich at the time of her marriage. 10645
