Arthur Whitney, parentage unknown, born say 1560, died after 1589.
The name of his wife is not known.
In Jan 1581/82, Arthur Whitney was fined at an inquest at Rye for "annoying the way" (blocking the street).
On 2 Mar 1584 he served as a juror in the coroner's inquest concerning the murder of Thomas Evans of Rye, berebrewer.
He was probably related in some way to the William Whitney who served as a juror 8 Jun 1589 in the coroner's inquest into the death of William Nickerson, who had fallen from a cliff.
Children of Arthur Whitney (perhaps incomplete):
i. Ursetlay Whytny, bp. 30 Dec 1583, Rye, Sussex, England. ii. John Whytney, bp. 4 Apr 1585, Rye, Sussex, England. iii. Cathryn Whytney, bp. 20 Jul 1589, Rye, Sussex, England.
Notes
There appears to have been Whitneys in Sussex for some time. William Whitney married Alice, the daughter of John Styllefeld, perhaps in the 1430s or 1440s. See The Victoria History of the County of Sussex
