William Henry8 Whitney (James Jefferson7, John Merrick6, James Rex5, Caleb4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of James Jefferson7 and Josephine (Darden) Whitney, was born 31 Dec 1862, Fayette, MS, and died 24 Apr 1886, Fayette, MS.
He married, 9 Feb 1881, at Bleak House Plantation, Jefferson County (later known as Stonington, MS), Naomi Burch Campbell, daughter of Robert William and Ann Cordelia (Girault) (Davenport) Campbell. She was born 22 May 1863. At 5 days old she was adopted by Issac Washington and Elizabeth Bisland (McCaleb) Burch; I. W. Burch was the brother to Robert W. Campbell's first wife, Nancy Burch.
He was shot in a dual over a political argument; resided Fayette, MS.
