Notes

A descendant's DNA test results match 25 of 25 locations to the "signature" DNA profile of immigrant John Whitney, indicating that Chauncey Whitney was a descendant.

Note that Triangle and Lisle are only 7 miles apart, with Whitney Point, NY between them.

In 1820, he was listed just two lines away from Family:Whitney, Asa (1742-a1800) in the census (which had been alphabetized by initial letter of given name). Was he perhaps a younger son of this man?

"Chauncey Whitney (b. ca. 1796-d. aft 1872) m. ca. 1818 Amanda Taft and had ch. Oliver, Diana, Smith, Lucy and Jackson. None of these names appear to derive from the Taft side of the family. These people resided at Broome Co./Chenanago Co., NY. Can anyone provide the ancestry of this Chauncey Whitney?" - Chauncey Whitney, Broome Co., NY
