Richard7 Whitney (Timothy6, Aaron5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), born Lanesborough, Massachusetts, 2 Aug 1800; married at Waterville, New York, Oct., 1826, Clarissa Tower, born Paris, New York, 2 Mar 1802; died 8 Sep 1887.
He was born in Lanesborough, Massachusetts, where his father was one of the most prominent citizens, and where he always resided. He was a merchant, postmaster, and register of deeds for Berkshire County all his life. He was a small man, bald, with black eyes, very amiable and never had an enemy, and was much respected and beloved. He was a member of the Congregational church, and sung in the choir all his life. He died 24 Mar 1869; resided Lanesborough and Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

i. Charles B.8 Whitney, born 6 Oct 1827; married Laura L. Sherman and Abbie G. Pope. ii. Silas F. Whitney, born 29 Sep 1830; died 23 Nov 1853. iii. Eliza A. Whitney, born 4 Oct 1835; married 28 May 1862, Almon H. Harrison; resided Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He was born 4 Dec 1834. Is a merchant. - Ch.: Mary W., born 12 Apr 1865; Frank W., born 7 Feb 1869.
iv. Henry F. Whitney, born 24 Jul 1841; died 31 Dec 1853.
