Luther6 Whitney (Peter6, Daniel5, Abel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Peter6 and Eunice6 (Whitney) Whitney, was born 21 Jun 1824, Gorham, ME, and died 20 Jan 1896, Limington, ME.

He married firstly, 1848, Phebe Horton, daughter of Charles and Esther (Cobb) Horton. She was born 8 May 1824, Gorham, ME, and apparently died before 1850, possibly in childbirth.

He married secondly, 16 Sep 1854, Standish, ME, Louisa Sawyer, daughter of John and Sally (Fogg) Sawyer. She was born 1825, Limington, ME, and died 1880, Limington, ME.

Children of Luther6 and Phebe (Horton) Whitney:

i. Peter Herbert7 Whitney, b. 12 Apr 1848, ME; d. 27 Feb 1898, Standish, ME; "Herbert P., of Gorham" m. 19 Nov 1878, Standish, ME, Nellie A. Freeman of Standish.
