Joseph S.8 Whitney (Jonathan7, Jonathan6, Caleb5, Jonathan4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Jonathan7 and Lucy (Spaulding) Whitney, was born about 1828, Templeton or Gardner, MA, and died after 1871.
He married firstly, Harriet S. Scott, daughter of Levi and Lucy (Billings) Scott. She was born about 15 Feb 1825, Machias, ME, and died 20 Dec 1853, Boston, MA, aged 28 years 10 months 5 days, of childbirth.[1]
He married secondly, 12 Mar 1854, Boston, MA, Hannah S. Chase, daughter of Joshua Chase.[2] She was born about 1831, Portland, ME, and died 1871, Brooklyn, NY.
He, of New York, NY, married thirdly, 2 Feb 1871, Boston, MA, Belinda A. Bentley (Babcock) Elms, daughter of Samuel B. and Julia (Holmes) Babcock.[3] She was born about 1832, Boston, MA, and died 4 May 1908, Newport or Cranston, RI. She had married firstly, 28 May 1848, Boston, MA, Anson Elms.
He resided Brooklyn, NY, and Boston, MA. In 1858 he was a chairmaker living on Brooks St., Boston, MA.
