Alvah Spaulding7 Whitney (Josiah6, Hezekiah5, Hezekiah4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of Josiah6 and Sarah (Spaulding) Whitney, was born 10 Feb 1822, Wolcott, VT, and died 21 Jan 1863, VA.

He "of Lowell" married, 20 Oct 1846, Lowell, MA, Idris F. Phoenix says the following: "Alvah Spaulding Whitney ... went to Lowell, Mass., where he married, 20 Oct. 1846, Idris Richardson, of Lowell, formerly of Stowe, Vt. After his marriage, he lived successively in Wolcott, Vt.; Lowell, Mass., again; Craftsbury, Vt.; Hyde Park, Vt; and again in Wolcott. He enlisted, 11 Aug. 1862, in the Union army, and died in Virginia, 21 Jan. 1863, and was buried there. She was living at Lowell, in 1874.

Notes

Lowell, MA, vital records give the birth of Idris Whitney, daughter of Alva and Silvia, on 5 Jul 1851, in Lowell. The father was a watchman living on Keene St., Lowell. The parents were born in Wolcott and Stow, VT, respectively.[11] This appears to be a garbled version of the birth of Ida, above.
