James6 Whitney (Richard5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Richard5 and Mary (Perry) Whitney, was born 29 May 1760, Harvard, MA, and died Feb 1817.
He married firstly, 27 May 1783, Rachel Lawton. She was born 7 Dec 1760 and died 14 Apr 1803.
He married secondly, 20 Oct 1803, Lucy Reed.
He married thirdly, 8 Dec 1811, Susan Whitney. She was born 1785, and died 19 Sep 1848.
He was selectman in 1808-9.
James Whitney's widow's dower, late of Harvard, asks for her dower; name of wife Susan, 13 Mar 1817. James Whitney's real estate, late of Harvard; Richard Whitney, Jr. asks for a settlement 9 Feb 1819. Richard Whitney, Jr., Amos Batcheller, Rachel Batcheller, John Whitney, Isaac Whitney, guar. for Lucy Whitney Jefferson, Mary and Hiram sign, saying they are satisfied, 27 Feb 1819. He resided Harvard, MA.
Children of James6 and Rachel (Lawton) Whitney:
i. Richard7 Whitney, b. 30 Mar 1784; m. Sally Turner. ii. Jeremiah Lawton Whitney, b. 13 Aug 1788. He was a clockmaker and resided in Shirley. His estate was settled in 1815. Richard, Jr., of Harvard, was admr. At the auction sale of his effects his brother John bought his watch. iii. Rachel Whitney, b. 21 Jul 1791; m. ("of Harvard" int. 22 Nov 1812, Boxborough, MA)[1] 15 Dec 1812, Amos Batchelor, of Boxboro. iv. John Whitney, b. 20 Jul 1796. v. Lucy Whitney, b. 23 Jul 1804. vi. Jefferson Whitney, b. 26 Apr 1806. vii. Mary Whitney, b. 17 Dec 1809. viii. Hiram Whitney, b. 11 Mar 1815; m. Martha Ann Whitney.
