John Baily (son John's pension record, S18,742). John Bridgham of Plumpton served as the captain of a company in Col. Theophilus Cotton's regiment, which marched on the alarm of 19 April 1775 to Marshfield with service of 12 days. He also served in the same regiment and appears on a return of officers stationed at Roxbury, commissioned 26 May 1775; also on a return for provisions dated at Roxbury, 5 June 1775, and a muster roll dated 1 August 1775. He enlisted 2 May 1775 with service of 3 months 7 days; and appears on a company return dated 7 October 1775. He also served as volunteer captain in Capt. William Crow Cotton's company, Col. Josiah Whitney's regiment; engaged 19 July 1778 and was discharged 13 September 1778 with service of 1 month 16 days, at Rhode Island (MSSR, 2:493). pages 33-34: On 7 March 1863 Lydia S. Gale wrote a will that included 53 bequests and on the same day added a codicil with eight more bequests. ... She included ... Sarah Whitney and her daughters Sarah and Caroline of West Roxbury; ...
