Rev. William6 Whitney (James Rex5, Caleb4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of James Rex5 and Mary (Holland) Whitney; born 1790, in Georgia; married ----- -----. She died s. p. soon after marriage: married 2d -----, Sarah Leggett. She died 1821, at Fayette, Mississippi; married 3d, 31 Jul 1823, Mrs. Mary (Coleman) Smith; died Jefferson County, Mississippi; married 4th, 1831, Mrs. Henry (Witherspoon) King; died Meadville, Mississippi, July, 1832, s. p. He died 22 Apr 1864; resided Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Buried in Jefferson County, in the latter state.
Children of William6 and Sarah (Leggett) Whitney:
i. James J.7 Whitney, born 1815, GA, died Aug 1832, Selserstown, Mississippi. ii. Caroline Whitney, born GA, d. 1842, Washington, MI; married Mar., 1832, George W. Weast. She died leaving William, Sarah, George, and one other; all are now deceased. iii. Mary Ann Whitney, born 3 Mar 1820; married 24 Apr 1844, Absalom Spielman; born 24 Mar 1810; died 26 Jul 1887, at Greenville, Ohio; 11 ch.

iv. Elizabeth Jones Whitney, born 5 Sep 1828; married 3 Jun 1875. Elias B. Thompson; born 4 Apr 1820, s. p.; resided Natchez, Mississippi. v. Mary Whitney, born 1830, died 1840, Washington, Mississippi.
