* I do not think this is actually a Whitney.  The index lists Henery M. under Whitney, and his surname *IS* written differently than the other members of the household.  It does appear to have a y or a g on the end, but it is smudged and partially overwritten by his age.  Also, the fact that others in the household have ditto marks for their surname, but his is actually written out does lead one to believe that his surname was different.
