Asaph6 Whitney (Nathan4, Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), son of Nathan5 and Tabitha (Bennett) Whitney, was born 29 Apr 1759, Stow, MA.

Marriage intentions were published 1 Oct 1786, Conway, MA, for him "Asa" "of Conway" and Lucretia Murphy "of Williamsburg".[1] It seems likely that it was the same couple "Asa" and Christian McMurphy who were married 5 Dec 1786, Williamsburg, MA.[2] "Lucretia Whitney", widow, died 3 Aug 1803, Conway, aged 42 years, of consumption,[3] and hence was born about 1761.

Asa Whitney was a scholar, 1779-1790, of Elisha Niles, in Conway, Mass.[4]

Asa/Asaph6 and Lucretia/Christian (Murphy/McMurphy) Whitney had no known children.

Census

  • 1790: not found. There was an Asa White in Williamsburg, MA, with 1 male over 16, 2 males 0-15, and 4 females, but this doesn't seem to fit the profile of a young, newly-married couple.
