Family:Whitney, Milton W. (1839-1900)

Milton W.⁸ Whitney (Asa Watrous⁷, Milton⁶, Asa⁵, Joshua⁴, William³, Joshua², John¹), son of Asa Watrous⁷ and Mary Ann (Wightman) Whitney, was born 18 Aug 1839, Pittsfield, OH, and died 1 Oct 1900, Susanville, Lassen Co., CA, aged 74 years.^[1]

He married first, 4 Dec 1862, Oberlin, OH, Susan L. Ware, daughter of Manning and Mary I. (-----) Ware. She was born 2 Aug 1841, [probably Castleton,] VT, and died 8 Oct 1916, San Francisco, CA. They were divorced before 1897.

He married second, 29 Aug 1897, Lassen Co., CA, Nellie B. Hoagland,^[2] daughter of Henry L. and Louisa (Shaw) Hoagland. She was born Mar 1877, CA. She married secondly, William Wiseman, of Westwood, CA.

He is a carpenter and blacksmith; resided Alta, CA.

ii.	Harriett N. Whitney, b. 2 Mar 1871, Amherst, OH; unmarried; school teacher; resided 425 Pine St., Spokane, WA; "Hattie N." m. 5 Jun 1895, Gloucester, MA, Herman M. Walen, b. ca. 1867, Gloucester, MA, son of Michael and Anne E. (Langsford) Walen.[3]
iii.	Charles M. Whitney, b. 20 Jan 1873, OH; m. Myrtle N. Brooks; resided 1935 Geary St., San Francisco, CA.
iv.	Agnes E. Whitney, b. 16 Dec 1874, OH; m. Howard Black; resided 1935 Geary St., San Francisco, CA.
