He married, 1 Sep 1858, Poughkeepsie, NY, Mary Ann Tompkins, daughter of George Washington and Emeline (Crane) Tompkins. She was born 18 Jul 1833, Poughkeepsie, NY, and died after 1910.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a carriage-smith . . . . He left his father's house in 1850; dwelt at Beekman, NY, for three years; at Poughkeepsie seven years; at Dover, NY, two years; then settled at Amenia, NY, and lived there in 1874."
