Justus5 Whitney (Daniel4, Richard3, John2, Henry1), son of Daniel4 and Hester (Clawson) Whitney, was baptized 12 Jun 1757, Stamford, CT, and died 1818, Stamford, CT, of consumption.

He married, 2 Jul 1781, Stamford, CT, Nancy Lines, daughter of David and Mary (Cheson) Lines. She was born 28 Feb 1757, Stamford, CT, and died 1817, Stamford, CT, of consumption.

Phoenix says the following:

Justus Whitney, bap. at Stamford, 12 June 1757; married by "Charles Webb, Esq.," in Stamford, 2 July 1781, to Nancy Lines, born in Stamford, 28 Feb. '757, dau. of David and Mary (Cheson) Lines, who were married in Stamford, 14 Jan. 1747-8. They settled in Stamford, and there died of consumption; she, in 1817; he, one year later.

Children of Justus5 and Nancy (Lines) Whitney:

i. John6 Whitney, b. 1 Aug 1786, Stamford, CT; m. Rachel Bown.
ii. ----- Whitney, d. 4 Jun 1789, Stamford, CT.
iii. William Whitney, b. 29 Dec 1790, Stamford, CT; unmarried. He went to sea, "while yet in his teens", and perished by shipwreck, or, as another account says, was killed on board the frigate Constitution in the war of 1812.
iv. Sally Whitney, b. 29 Aug 1792, Stamford, CT; bapt. 18 Jan 1793, Stamford, CT; m. Frederick Delliger, as his second wife; and settled in Broad Street, New York City, about 1830. They died without children.
v. Nancy Whitney, b. 21 Nov 1794, Stamford, CT; bapt. 2 Feb 1795, Stamford, CT; m. Joseph Rockwell Barnum.
vi. Mary Whitney, b. 5 Dec 1796, Stamford, CT; died of consumption, in New York City, unmarried, and was buried in Danbury, CT. She was often called Molly, or Polly, Whitney.
vii. Abby Whitney, b. 24 Dec 1799, Stamford, CT; m. Stephen Brockington.
