Lebbeus6 Whitney (James Rex5, Caleb4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of James Rex5 and Mary (Holland) Whitney, was born 8 Oct 1785, Hillsboro, NC, and died 7 Sep 1849, Pottsville, PA.
He married, 1808, Elizabeth Ford. She was born 9 Aug 1786, Philadelphia, PA, and died 3 Feb 1873.
His parents emigrated from New York to Georgia, in 1785, and while on their way thither he was born at Hillsboro, NC. When a lad he went from Georgia to Charleston, SC, and thence before his majority to Philadelphia. For many years he was teller in the Schuylkill Bank. In Jul 1832, he moved to Port Carbon, PA, and was cashier of the branch of the bank there until 1840, when he went to a farm near Orwigsburg, PA, and thence to Pottsville, in 1845, where he died. He died Sept. 7, 1849: resided Pottsville, PA.

ii. Laurence Ford Whitney, b. 5 Oct 1812; m. Hannah Pott. iii. Charles Albert Whitney, b. 5 Mar 1815; m. Sophia Faure. iv. John Ford Whitney, b. 22 Sep 1817; m. Elizabeth R. Ruckel. v. Catherine Whitney, b. 28 Feb 1820. vi. William Lebbeus Whitney, b. 16 Jan 1823; m.(1) Ann T. Potts; m.(2) Emma St. C. Nichols. vii. Elizabeth Ford Whitney, b. 1 Jan 1826. viii. Anna Margaret Whitney, b. 27 Nov 1828; d. 24 Sep 1864, Point Lookout, MD; m. 30 Sep 1856, Dr. Anthony Heger, asst. surg. U.S. Army. He was b. 4 Dec 1828, Vienna, Austria. - Ch.: William Simcoe, b. 17 Jun 1857.
