Benjamin Holt9 Whitney (John8, John7, Silas6, Daniel5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), born Wayland, Massachusetts, 13 Nov 1843; married at Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Jan 14, 1874, Kate L. Goodman, born 8 Aug 1845.

B. H. Whitney was educated at Chauncy Hall, Boston, served three years' apprenticeship, 1859-61, with the publishing house of Ticknor & Fields; then in employ of Boston & Worcester railway as freight agent, 1861-67, at Brighton, Massachusetts, then went to Toledo, 1867, with the firm of H. W. Sage & County, wholesale lumber, as bookkeeper, manager and partner; then of firm of Whitney & Tracy, wholesale lumber, now manager at Toledo, Ohio, for the wholesale lumber firm of Geo. N. Fletcher & Sons; resided Toledo, Ohio, s. p.
