Jonathan W.⁷ Whitney (Luther⁶, Israel⁵, Elijah⁴, Isaiah³, Thomas², John¹), son of Luther⁶ and Melinda (Wetherbee) Whitney; born Harvard, Massachusetts, Nov. 1819; married at Thompson, Connecticut, 13 Dec 1840, Thompson, Connecticut, Mercy R. Chase; born Dartmouth, Bristol County, Rhode Island, 30 Jan 1822. He died 15 Aug 1878; resided Springfield, Ohio, 74 Arcade and 23 Humbolt Ave., Boston, Massachusetts.

Children of Jonathan W.⁷ and Mercy R. (Chase) Whitney:

i.	Susan C.8 Whitney, born July, 1842; died 5 Nov 1845.
ii.	Clara H. Whitney, born 12 Aug 1844; married 3 Nov 1873, Jerry Redding. Ch.: Amy, born Oct., 1874; died 1880; Mary, born 1875; died 1882; Charles F. born Jan., 1877; Emory, born Oct., 1880; died 1882; Nathan C., born 1883; Herbert E., born 1886; resided 296 S. Alabama St., Indianapolis, Indiana.
iii.	Amy C. Whitney, born 25 Aug 1846; married 1 Jun 1877, Robert H. Brandon; resided 23 Humbolt Ave., Boston.
iv.	Emory C. Whitney, born 20 Dec 1858; married Aug. 1894, Jennie Olmstead; resided 19 Capitol Ave., Hartford, Connecticut.
