James William Whitney (William Wort, Ephraim Bennett), son of William Wort and Sarah Caroline (Hipshire) Whitney,[1] was born 21 Sep 1894, Squaw Valley (Holliday Ranch), CA,[2] and died 25 Aug 1958, Modesto, CA.[3]

He married firstly, between 1918 and 1920, CA,[4] Inez Grace (Hassell) Sciarini, daughter of Joseph Henry and Ida Mae (Hall) Hassell. She was born 14 Feb 1897, or 11 Feb 1892, San Francisco, CA, and died 3 Dec 1932 in Sacramento, CA. She had married firstly, 26 Jun 1911, Santa Clara Co., CA, Paul Peter Sciarini, Sr. He had been born 31 July 1888, Sesto Ulteriano, Provincia di Milano, Lombardia, Italy, and died 1 Nov 1918, Colma, CA.

They lived in Washington, CA, and Santa Rosa, CA.

He married secondly, in 1942, in Reno, Washoe, Nevada,[5] Vivian Blanche Palmer, daughter of James Bennum and Belle (Lawrence) Palmer. She was born 12 Oct 1911 in The Dalles, OR, and died 28 Apr 2004 in Modesto, Stanislaus, CA.

They lived in Washington, Sacramento, CA, Rohnert Park, Healdsburg, and Sebastopol, Sonoma County, CA. Sebastopol was James' last place of residence before he died in 1958.
