Alvah Spaulding7 Whitney (Josiah6, Hezekiah5, Hezekiah4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of Josiah6 and Sarah (Spaulding) Whitney, was born 10 Feb 1822, Wolcott, VT, and died 21 Jan 1863, VA.

He "of Lowell" married, 20 Oct 1846, Lowell, MA, Idris F. Richardson of Lowell, daughter of William and Hannah (-----) Richardson. She was born about 1826 and died after 1874.

Phoenix says the following: "Alvah Spaulding Whitney ... went to Lowell, Mass., where he married, 20 Oct. 1846, Idris Richardson, of Lowell, formerly of Stowe, Vt. After his marriage, he lived successively in Wolcott, Vt.; Lowell, Mass., again; Craftsbury, Vt.; Hyde Park, Vt; and again in Wolcott. He enlisted, 11 Aug. 1862, in the Union army, and died in Virginia, 21 Jan. 1863, and was buried there. She was living at Lowell, in 1874.

vi. Nellie Whitney, b. Hyde Park, VT; living 1874, Lowell, MA; unmarried.
vii. Flora Whitney, b. Wolcott, VT; living 1874, Lowell, MA; unmarried.
