Family:Whitney, Lyman (1806-1889)

Rev. Lyman8 Whitney (Christopher7, Christopher6, William5, William4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of Christopher7 and Rhoda (Wilder) Whitney, was born 6 Oct 1806, Locke, NY, and died 20 Aug 1889, Los Angeles, CA.

He married, 24 Aug 1828, Elizabeth Weatherby. She was born 16 Sep 1811, and died 12 Apr 1894, Troy, OH.

He studied for the ministry at the school at Hamilton, NY, going there from Hinsdale, NY, in the year 1836. In 1840 he moved to Ohio; in 1843 he went to Bloomington, IL; in 1846 he went back to Ohio, having charge of churches in Seville, Greenfield, Painesville and other places. For a while he also had charge of a church in Carrollton, IL. In the fall of 1856 he went to St. Anthony's Falls, MN, and remained one year. From there he went to Illinois; thence to Kansas. From Kansas, in the year 1877, he came to California, living at Los Angeles, where he died. He resided Hinsdale, NY, and Los Angeles, CA.

Children of Lyman8 and Elizabeth (Weatherby) Whitney:

i. Albertus L.9 Whitney, b. 1 Aug 1829; m. Cornelia L. Tozer; resided Los Angeles, CA.
ii. Albert B. Whitney, b. 30 Dec 1830.
