He is identified as Jesse B.7 Whitney (John6, Barnabas5, Isaac4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1).
On 2 Aug 1889 from Bradley Co., TN, Iona Wallace signed a Declaration for Widow’s Army Pension. She is forty years old, and a resident of Cleveland, Bradley Co., TN. She is the widow of Jesse B. Whitney, who enlisted in Maine on 21 Sep 1861 as a Private in Co., F, commanded by Capt. E. S. Bisbee, in the 9th Regiment of Maine Volunteers. While in the service and in his line of duty he contracted disabilities from which he died at Faribault County, MN, 11 May 1881. She was married to Jessie B. Whitney in Faribault Co., MN, 8 Dec 1864. Her maiden name was Iona Annis. She remained a widow of Jessie B. Whitney until she remarried to Charles Wallace on 21 Jul 1883. The following are the children of herself and her deceased husband who are alive and under the age of sixteen:
- Charles E., b. 2 Jun 1866
- Sidney G., b. 4 May 1868
- Cora E., b. 10 Feb 1873
- Ada B., b. 27 May 1875
Her husband had never previously married and left no other minor children. Witnesses to the declaration are Paul Crites and M. L. Julian.
Paul Crites of Sherman Heights, Hamilton Co., TN, submitted testimony that Charles, Sidney, and Ada remain alive, and that Cora died 9 Jan 1891.
Rev. J. E. Conrad, age 75, of Mapleton, Blue Earth Co., MN, testified that on or about 8 Dec 1864 he performed the marriage ceremony between Iona Annis (now Iona Wallace) and Jesse B. Whitney.
