1 Jan. 1852, to Julius Gervase Veits, a farmer, born at Granby, 29 Ap. 1828, son of Gervase1 and Esther (Phelps) Veits. They lived at Westfield, Mass., for one year; thence removed to Granby, soon after which a division of the town left them in East Granby, where they lived ten years; and then returned to Granby, where they still lived in 1874.

III. William Nelson Gillett, b. at Southwick, Mass., 29 June 1836; a farmer; married by Rev. C. Rutherford, at the Methodist parsonage in West Suffield, Conn. (where her father then lived), 1 Dec. 1858, to Elizabeth Caroline Rowley, born at Hitchcocksville, now Riverton, Barkharnstead, Conn., 1 Aug. 1836, dau. of Gad and Caroline (Case) Rowley. He has dwelt at East Granby, Conn.; Westfield, Mass.; Granby and Simsbury, Conn.; and lived at West Suffield, Conn., in 1874.

IV. Rhoda Almira Gillett, b. at Southwick, Mass., 25 June 1839; married by Rev. Mr. Bingham, Congregational, at Westfield, Mass., 22 Oct. 1857, to George Fox, a machinist, son of Hiram and Ozine (Brown) Fox, of Westfield, where he was born 16 July 1836. He resided at Fowler, Ohio, four years; at Westfield, Mass., twelve years; and, in 1874, was foreman of the New Haven and Northampton Railway shop, and lived at 239 West Water Street, New Haven, Conn., without children.

I. Martin Van Buren Whitney, twin, b. at Westfield, Mass., 17 June 1836; married, at Northampton, Mass., 14 March 1866, Maria Drury. He served for three years in the war of 1861, in Co. F, 27th Reg., Mass. Volunteers; and was living at Montville, Ohio, in July 1876.

III. William Harrison Whitney, b. at East Granville, Mass., 9 July 1840; an undertaker, and dealer in furniture; married at Westfield, Mass., 8 Oct. 1863, by Rev. John Jennings, Baptist, to Sarah Celestia Clark, dau. of Almon and Sarah Ann (Loomis) Clark, of Agawam, Mass., where she was born 19 July 1844. They settled at Westfield, and were living there in July 1876.

1 Gervase Veits died 15 March 1839. and his widow lived in Granby, at the time of her son's marriage. Gervase Veits was son of Luke Veits, of Simsbury, Conn.
