Calvin Whitney - Most Wanted

Problem:
My ggggrandfather Calvin WHITNEY appeared in the Thomaston, Maine area about 1810 (guesstimate) with his brother, or at least it has been said it was his brother, Haynes WHITNEY. They supposedly came from the Woodstock area of Vermont. He and his wife, Eliza EVERTON, declared intentions to marry 7 May 1817, 12 Oct 1819, and 4 Oct 1821. They finally were married 29 Nov 1821. Their children were born 7 Apr 1816, 25 Apr 1818, 28 Jan 1822, 10 Nov 1823, 19 June 1826, and 31 July 1830. He died in October 1832. His wife subsequently married Joseph Thompson. All this information comes from the Camden-Rockport, Maine town records. The second marriage of Eliza is "documented" in the DAR records, in one of the earliest books. I have been dead-ended on this for several years since finding out and proving that Pierce was in error concerning this individual.
Background:
Frederick Clifton Pierce treats Calvin and Eliza (EVERTON) WHITNEY as family #1396, and his alleged brother Haynes and Jane (ROBINSON) WHITNEY as family #1397. Pierce claims that they were sons of Jonathan5 [James4, Joseph3, Jonathan2, John1] and Abigail (HEMINWAY) WHITNEY.
It is true that this couple had a son Calvin6 WHITNEY, born 28 May 1788, Fitzwilliam, NH. The latter, however, married instead Polly WILLIAMS on 11 Sep 1814, Hartland, VT, and had seven children born in Hartland, and in Niagara Co., NY, contemporary with the births of Calvin and Eliza (EVERTON) WHITNEY's children in Thomaston, ME. No primary source for the birth of either Calvin or Haynes WHITNEY of Thomaston has been found.
