p. 73, #811: Zachariah6 WHITNEY was born 11 (not 16) Jan 1747, Lunenburg, MA, according to Lunenburg vital records.

p. 73, #819: Abigail6 WHITNEY was born 20 May 1748, Weston, MA, according to Weston vital records.

p. 73, #821: There were several more children, according to Weston vital records:

vi. Andrew 6 WHITNEY, bap. 30 May 1754, m. Lucy MILES, and resided in Princeton, MA.
vii. Lemuel, bap. 17 Aug 1755.
viii. Abigail, bap. 24 Jul 1757, m. Benjamin THOMSON of Croydon, NH, and Royalton, VT.
ix. Abraham, bap. 8 Oct 1758, perhaps the one who m. Abigail GRAFTON.
x. Tabitha, bap. 3 Feb 1760, m. Charles MARKLE.

p. 73, #291: There was no brother Daniel; David6 WHITNEY must be meant.

p. 73, #291: Joseph5 WHITNEY married secondly, 3 Jul 1760, Watertown, MA, Elizabeth GODDARD. She did not marry his son Joseph6 WHITNEY, #823 on page 150.

p. 73, #291: Joseph5 WHITNEY died before 22 Nov 1784 (not in 1790), when his inventory was taken, according to Middlesex County probate records, file #24699. His wife died before 11 May 1791, when the widow's third of his estate was distributed.

p. 73, #823: Joseph6 WHITNEY did not marry Elizabeth GODDARD. Instead, it was his father Joseph5 WHITNEY, #291 on page 73, who married secondly, 3 Jul 1760, Watertown, MA, Elizabeth GODDARD.

p. 73, #824: David6 WHITNEY died before 4 Nov 1784, when administration on his estate was granted, according to Middlesex County probate records, file #24638.

p. 73, #826: Abijah6 WHITNEY was not a son of Joseph5 WHITNEY, #291 on page 73, but of his cousin Joseph5 WHITNEY, #290. This proven by the latter's will dated 13 Oct 1788, Weston, MA, in which he mentions wife Mary and daughter Mary, wife of Amos FISKE of Weston, and makes son Abijah WHITNEY his executor, according to Middlesex County Probate Records, File #24700. Apparently Pierce has copied this error from Bond's Watertown, volume 1, page 651.

p. 73, #292: Benjamin5 WHITNEY was born 14 (not 17) Sep 1712, Watertown, MA, according to Watertown vital records.

p. 73, #292: Benjamin5 WHITNEY married, about 1732, Rebecca -----, according to Watertown vital records.

p. 73, #828: There were six additional children, according to Watertown vital records. The correct list of children would be:

i. Mary, b. 12 Jul 1733, m. 15 Feb 1759, Worcester, MA, Jonathan Sawin.
828 ii. Benjamin, b. 25 Aug 1735, m. Sarah White.
iii. Rebecca, b. 4 Feb 1738/9.
829 iv. Samuel, b. 7 Apr 1742, m. Mary White and Mrs. Hannah Wetherbee.
v. Josiah, b. 17 Jun 1746 [perhaps should be 1744].
vi. Lydia, b. 18 Oct 1747, m. 16 Apr 1766, Worcester, MA, Josiah Boyden.
vii. Sarah, bap. 10 Sep 1749.
viii. Elizabeth, b. 10 Jun 1750, Worcester, MA.

p. 73, #293: Mary CLARK probably was the one born 8 Dec 1713, Braintree, MA, daughter of Richard3 and Mary (-----) CLARK [Uriah2, Hugh1] of Watertown, according to Braintree vital records. She died 17 Aug 1763, Watertown, MA, according to Watertown vital records. It seems likely that Samuel5 WHITNEY is that Samuel WHITNEY who married (secondly), 15 Jan 1765, Watertown, MA, Lydia PRENTICE, both of Watertown, also according to Watertown vital records. Lydia was born 11 Mar 1738, Watertown, MA, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (COOK) PRENTICE. Since she was not mentioned in his will dated 13 Dec 1805, according to Middlesex County probate records, file #24744, she undoubtedly had died before that date.

p. 73, #293: Samuel5 WHITNEY died before 8 Oct 1807 (not in 1808), when his will was lodged for probate, according to Middlesex County probate records, file #24744.

p. 73, #304: John5 WHITNEY apparently died before 18 May 1776 without surviving issue, since he was not listed among the heirs of his father's estate on that date. The data here pertain instead to John5 WHITNEY [Elnathan4, Eleazer3, Thomas2, John1], #453 on page 53. The marriage occurred on 4 (not 5) Jul 1753, Watertown, MA, according to Watertown vital records.
