Andrew Sheldon Whitney, parentage unknown, was born 1 Sep 1804, New Milford, CT, and died 28 Oct 1882.

In some records he appears as "Anderson", not "Andrew".

He married, about 1850-1851, Mary Ann Clark, parentage unknown. She may be that Mary A. Clark, age 18, in the family of William D. and Martha (-----) Clark, 1850, Pittsfield, MA. She was born 2 Sep 1831, Adams, MA, or NY, and died 28 Nov 1884, KS. She is buried in Marysville City Cemetery, Marysville, KS.

iv. Earl Dwight Whitney, b. ca. 1858, CT; d. 7 Jul 1908, State Hospital, Tewksbury, MA, aged 50 years, of catarrhal dysentery; stone mason, unmarried.[2]
v. Frank E. Whitney, b. ca. 1860, MA; d. after 1870. Listed as Henry, b. 25 Mar 1860, Adams, MA,[3] in the 1860 census.
vi. Mary Fidelia Whitney, b. 5 Jan 1862, Darien, CT; d. 3 Apr 1936, North Adams, MA; m. 2 Jan 1883, Marysville, KS, Paul Strange.
vii. Herman G. Whitney, b. Jan 1864, CT; m. Mary L. Wells.
viii. Stella H. Whitney, b. 21 Jul 1867 (twin), IA; d. after 1880.
