Arthur Barton9 Whitney (Baxter8, Chester7, Aaron6, Nathan5, Nathan4, Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), son of Baxter8 and Mary A. (Kneeland) Whitney, was born 30 Aug 1846, Waterbury, VT, and died 21 Apr 1920, Tacoma, WA.

He married firstly, 16 Sep 1868, Emma J. Patch. She was born 10 Mar 1846, and died 14 Mar 1879.

He married secondly, 11 Sep 1881, Carrie M. Tyler. She was born 16 May 1858, and died 1937.

Until he was twenty years of age he lived with his parents on a farm in the state of Vermont. In 1866 his parents moved to Milford, KS, where he learned the miller's trade. In 1881 he moved with his family to Colorado Springs, CO, and spent the succeeding four years there and in that vicinity. He then returned to Kansas and the miller's occupation. In 1890 he moved west again, and for want of any place further west to go to, stopped in western Washington, where he now is and henceforth will be; resided Cosmopolis, WA.

Arthur Barton Whitney died on April 21st, 1920 in Tacoma (Washington). In compliance with his wishes, his remains were incinerated and buried with his first wife, Emma, in the Milford cemetery, Milford, Kansas. Emma had died on March 14th, 1879 after a 9 year battle with tuberculosis. Arthur's second wife, Carrie died in 1937. Arthur and Carrie had one child, Allen Birney Whitney (1901-1978) born in Bellingham, Washington. Arthur's first son, Frank, returned to live with him in Washington but in 1904 followed the Klondike Gold Rush to the Yukon where he lived for 44 years. He married Theos Juliet Rosman of Plattsburgh, New York. Frank died in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1948 where he is buried. A mountain was named after Frank in the Yukon (Mount Whitney, Ogilvie Range).

i. Frank Arthur10 Whitney, b. 18 Oct 1869; with Gilfillan Scale & Hardware Company, 725 Old Colony bldg., Dearborn and Van Buren Sts. Chicago, IL. Moved to Bellingham, WA, then in 1904 to the Yukon. He d. 1948, Vancouver, BC; m. Theos Juliet Rosman.
