Asa5 Whitney (Matthias4, Cornelius3, Joshua2, John1), son of Matthias4 and Alice (Robbins) Whitney, was born 19 Feb 1744/5, Killingly, CT,[1] and died after 1810.[2]

That he married and had children is implied by the census records below, but no names or dates are known. It seems likely that the Alithea Whitney who appears in the 1820 census, as below, was his widow. Based on this, we suppose that he married, before 1784, Alithea -----. She was born before 1755, and died after 1820.

He lived in 1781 at Killingly, CT.

Potential children of Asa5 Whitney, based upon a census reconstruction, order uncertain:

i. (son) Whitney, b. ca. 1775-1784. Resided with the family in 1790, 1800, 1810, and 1820.
ii. (daughter) Whitney, b. ca. 1775-1784. Resided with the family in 1790 and 1800. Married or died before 1810.
iii. Whitford Whitney, b. 6 May 1796, Killingly, CT; m.(1) Patience Slafter; m. (2) Mehitabel Hopkins
iv. (daughter) Whitney, b. ca. 1790-1800. Resided with the family in 1800. Married or died before 1810.

Notes

Based on his naming a son Whitford Whitney, it seems likely that his putative wife Alithea may have been related to the Whitford family.

A possible child is the John Whitney, b. ca. 1783, who appears in Killingly in the 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860, and 1870 Censuses.
