Augustus Hervey7 Whitney (Zachariah Leach6, Isaac L.6, Isaac5, Isaac4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Zachariah Leach6 and Elizabeth Cambridge (Hayden) Whitney, was born 14 Oct 1835, Raymond, ME, and died 26 Aug 1891, Quincy, IL.
He married, Sept 1867, Fannie M. Garland.
He was born in Raymond, ME, and early showed a fondness for literature and music. From early age he has been a close student and is now recognized as a thoroughly educated musician. At the age of twenty he went to Portland, Maine, and learned the trade of organ making and at once embarked in business on his own account. After being in business in Montreal and Kalamazoo, MI, he moved to Quincy, IL, and established the Whitney & Holmes Organ Company, with which he has been very successful. He possesses many agreeable qualities and is a pleasant social companion. (U. S. Biog. Dic.). He resided Quincy, IL.
