Charles Francis Whitney, son of Francis and Julia (Lunge) Whitney, was born about 1828, about 1829, or about 7 Sep 1824, Bushville, Quebec, Canada, and died 4 Jan 1874, Wolcott, VT, aged 49 years 3 months 27 days, of apoplexy.^[1]

He married, say 1853, Alvira Hendee Gifford. She was born about 1834-1836, VT, and died after 1870.

In many records he appears as "Francis Whitney".

iv.	Julia Adela Whitney, b. -- Apr 1862, Wolcott, VT;[4] d. 3 Oct 1871, Wolcott, VT, aged 1 year 2 months [sic], of consumption.
v.	Nora Ettie Whitney, b. 28 Jul 1864, Wolcott, VT;[5] d. 28 Aug 1886, Canterbury, NH, aged 22 years 1 month 4 days, of consumption; unmarried.
vi.	Mary E. Whitney, b. 5 Jan 1869, Wolcott, VT;[6] no further record.
