Charles Freeman⁸ Whitney (James Gray⁸, Freeman⁷, Enoch⁶, Moses⁵, Nathaniel⁴, Nathaniel³, Benjamin², John¹), son of James Gray⁸ and Betsey H. (Carsley) Whitney, was born 10 Oct 1847 or 13 Oct 1846, Harrison, ME, and died 18 Feb 1911, Norway, ME.^[1] He was buried in Harrison Village Cemetery, Harrison, ME.^[2]

He married firstly, int. 9 Jun 1873; cert. 14 Jun 1873, Harrison, ME,^[3] 19 Jun 1873, Lovell, ME, Sarah E. Hamblen,^[4] daughter of Joshua Hamblen. She was born 27 Aug 1849, ME, and died 22 Jun 1885. She was buried in Harrison Village Cemetery, Harrison, ME,^[5] or Cemetery #4, Lovell, ME.

He married secondly, 30 Dec 1906, Harrison, ME, Ellen Frances (Bradbury) Pottle, daughter of Jacob and Sally King (Ripley) Bradbury. She was born 20 August 1841, Norway, ME, and died 29 May 1910, Norway, ME.^[6] She was buried in Norway Pine Grove Cemetery, Paris, ME.^[7] She had married firstly, Stephen Pottle (1839-1895).

They resided Harrison and Paris, ME. They had two known children.
