Charles Wesley Whitney (Hiram P., [poss.] Justus), son of Hiram P. and Laura A. (Remington) Whitney, was born about 1853, Oneida Co., NY, and died 28 Nov 1896, Manhattan, NY.[1] He was buried in St. Michael's Cemetery, Astoria, NY.
He married [Emma Johanna] Martina Arnold, daughter of Carl Friedrich and Elisabeth Christine (Hendel) Arnold. She was born 10 Jun 1863, Stuttgart, Wurttemberg, Germany,[2] and died after 1921.
He is listed as a Person Subject to Military Duty, 1862-1910, Delaware Co., IA, several times, years not obvious.
On 24 Aug 1921 she applied for a passport, giving the details of her birth and immigration. She had come to America in 1883. Her husband Charles Wesley Whitney had been born in Manchester, IA, and was deceased. Her residence was at 520 Stuyvesant Ave., Rutherford, NJ. Her occupation was housewife. She proposed a trip to the Orient with daughter Viola and son-in-law William G. Kaylor.[3]
