Clara Ann⁸ Whitney (Samuel Newell⁷, Isaac L.⁶, Isaac⁵, Isaac⁴, Nathaniel³, Benjamin², John¹), daughter of Samuel Newell⁷ and Abigail L. (Hoyt) Whitney, was born 18 Jan 1848, Saccarappa (Westbrook), ME, and died 8 Mar 1931, La Grange, IL.

She married 16 Jan 1868, St. Anthony, MN, James H. Sinclair, son of Henry S. and Rachel (Boston) Sinclair. He was born 4 Sep 1840, Waterboro, ME, and died 7 Apr 1927, Hinsdale, IL.

James was a Civil War veteran, and he and Clara received a pension from the U. S. government.
