Family:Whitney, Daniel (1786-1869)

Daniel⁶ Whitney (Josiah⁵, Richard⁴, Richard³, Richard², John¹), son of Josiah⁵ and Sarah (Dwelly) Whitney, was born 25 Oct 1786, Harvard, MA,^[1] and died 18 Apr 1869, New York, NY.

He married, 10 Mar 1808, Boston, MA, Hannah Shedd,^[2] of Waltham, MA, daughter of Zechariah and Lydia (Spring) Shedd. She was born 22 Jun 1789, Medford, MA, and died 17 Oct 1860, New York, NY.

Daniel Whitney was born in Massachusetts. He was a master mason builder, and moved with his family from Boston, MA, in 1825, on a sloop with all his worldly goods and family consisting of ten children. It took a week to make the trip. He resided in New York City, and died at the age of 82. He made all the arrangements for his funeral one year before he died - chose eight pall bearers from among his most intimate friends of long standing. He had a presentiment one year before he died that he would die that year. There are many elegant residences standing now that he erected. He was very active after the great fire of 1835. He resided Waltham and Boston, MA, and New York City, NY.

v.	Edward Oliver Whitney, b. 24 Dec 1816, MA; m. Eliza Lawrence.
vi.	Lucy Jane Whitney, b. 16 Dec 1818, MA; d. 11 Jan 1861, Needham, MA, aged 42 years 1 month 5 days, of inflammation of the bowels;[4] m. 19 Oct 1854, George B. Revere, b. 26 Jan 1823, d. 11 Dec 1882. This was Mr. Revere's second marriage. By his first wife he had two ch. After Lucy Jane's death he m.(3) Yarmouth, ME, 4 Oct 1868, Arabella Groves; ch., Jennie Belle, b. 2 Aug 1869; d. 8 Sep 1870. Children: a. Susanna W. Revere, b. 23 Apr 1857; res. 572 No. Carey St., Brockton, MA. b. Paul Revere, b. 20 Feb 1860; m. ----- -----; res. West Bridgewater, MA.
vii.	Susanna Whitney, b. 24 Feb 1821, MA; d. Oct 4 1905; resided 58 Bank St., New York City. She was a teacher then principal of Public School 41 in Greenwich Village.[5]
