Daniel T. Whitney (James), son of James and Mary (-----) Whitney, was born 24 Apr 1832 [naturalization record], about 1833 [death record], about 1837 [marriage record], or Apr 1840 [1900 census], St. John NB, and died 24 Dec 1901, Cambridge, MA, aged 68 years, of heart disease.[1]

He married firstly, an unknown wife. See notes below.

He married secondly, 4 Nov 1882, Boston, MA, Isabella Campbell, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (-----) Campbell.[2] She was born about 1842 [marriage record] or Mar 1845 [1900 census], NS, and died after 1901.

He is listed in the Boston, MA, city directories as follows:

1885, occupation not given, house 13 Harwich St.[3]
1889, variety, business 66 Melrose St., resided Huntington House.[4]
1890, grocer, business 19 Ferdinand St., resided Huntington House.[5]
1892, grocer, business 19 Ferdinand St., resided Huntington House.[6]
1893, grocer, business 19 Ferdinand St., resided Huntington House.[7]
1895, grocer, business 19 Ferdinand St., resided Huntington House.[8]
1899, removed to Cambridge.[9]

On 22 Aug 1892, Daniel T. Whitney petitioned the U.S. District Court, Boston, MA, for naturalization. He had been born 24 Apr 1832, NB.[10]

Children of Daniel T. and Isabella (Campbell) Whitney, if any, unknown. None are listed in the 1900 census.

Notes

Daniel T. Whitney above may or may not be identical with Daniel Whitney, b. Chatham, NB, who was living in Boston in 1876 and 1877. If they are the same, as seems likely, then his first wife was Lavinia -----.
