David6 Whitney (Amos5, Seth4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of Amos5 and Rosetta (Lewis) Whitney, was born 26 Oct 1813, Yorktown, NY, was baptized -- --- ----, by Rev. Silas Constant, of Crompond, and died 22 Sep 1845, Somers, NY.
He married 11 Nov 1841, Somers, NY, Caroline Haight, daughter of Alexander Stewart and Phebe (Gregory) Haight. She was born 2 Apr 1821, Somers, NY, and died after 1874. She married secondly, 8 Jan 1850, Somers, NY, George Henry Van Kleeck.
Phoenix says the following:
- "David Whitney, b. at Crompond, in Yorktown, N. Y., 26 Oct. 1813; bap., date not recorded, by Rev. Silas Constant, Congregational, of Crompond; a farmer; married, 11 Nov. 1841, by Rev. Robert Travis, at her father's house in Somers, N. Y., to Caroline Haight, born in Somers, 2 Ap. 1821, dau. of Alexander Stewart and Phebe (Gregory) Haight. They settled in Yorktown. He died in Somers, 22 Sept. 1845, and was buried in the Crompond East Cemetery. She was married (2d), 8 Jan. 1850, by Rev. S. Thomas, at her father's house in Somers, to George Henry Van Kleeck, and settled at New Castle Corners, N. Y., where they lived in 1874."
