Edward Purcel8 Whitney (Asa P.7, George W.6, Asa5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Asa P.7 and Eunice C. (Kneeland) Whitney, was born 29 Oct 1843 or 25 Nov 1843, VT, and died 25 Jan 1874, Harrison, ME.

He married, 24 Dec 1866, Pembroke, NH, or Waltham, MA, Carrie8 Whiting,[1] daughter of Nathan7 and Caroline (Allen) Whiting [Oliver6, John5, John4, Oliver3, Samuel2, Samuel1]. She was born 25 Jul 1836, ME, and died 3 Apr 1916, Stow, ME, aged 80 years, of chronic interstitial nephritis.[2] She was buried in Stow Cemetery, Stow, ME.

He resided Waltham, MA, and Harrison, ME.
