Family:Whitney, Ernest Alvin (1873-a1908)

Ernest Alvin⁹ Whitney (Alvin Emerson⁸, Joseph M.⁷, Ebenezer⁶, Zachariah⁵, Zachariah⁴, Ebenezer³, Richard², John¹), son of Alvin Emerson⁸ and Flora E. (Bartlett) Whitney, was born 16 Sep 1873, Greenfield, MA, and died after 1908.

He married firstly, 24 Jun 1895, Somerville, MA [also recorded at Revere, MA], Emma A. or Emily Gwendoline Murray, daughter of John C/E. and Maria or Mary E. (Sousa) Murray.^[1] She was born about 1871-1873, Somerville, MA, or Lisbon, Portugal. They were apparently divorced. Emma married secondly, 28 Dec 1910, Boston, MA, Manuel A. Linhares.^[2]

He married secondly, 30 Dec 1908, Winthrop (also recorded in Beverly), MA, Cora Jane (Wheelock) Deane, daughter of Guilford D. and Jessie E. (Pearce) Wheelock.^[3] She was born about 1865, Annapolis, NS.

He worked with the Oliver Ditson Company, the well known music publishers of Boston.
