Freeman7 Whitney (Jesse6, Hezekiah5, Hezekiah4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of Jesse6 and Eliza (Vance) Whitney, was born 10 Jan 1812, Wolcott, VT, and died 1 Jan 1875, East Fairfield, VT, aged 63 years, of congestion of the lungs; buried in Waterville, VT.

He married firstly, 5 Jan 1832, Wolcott, VT, Nancy Evans Watson,[1] daughter of Ichabod Watson. She was born 11 Jun 1814, Vershire, VT, and died 25 Dec 1860, Pittsfield, NH. They were divorced about 1848.

He married secondly, 7 Dec 1853, South Royalton, VT, Betsey Roberts (Smith) Nutter,[2] daughter of Jonnathan Coffin and Betsey (Buzzell) Smith. She was born 21 Dec 1817, Tunbridge, VT, and died after Sep 1874. She had married firstly Enos George Nutter.

Phoenix says the following:

"... a painter .... He enlisted, in Dec. 1863, in Co. H, 2d Reg., Vt. Vol. Cavalry, and served in eight or ten different hospitals, till the close of the war. .... She was living at 49 South Central Street, Nashua, N.H., in Sept. 1874."

i. Eliza8 Whitney, b. Wolcott, VT; d. Wolcott, VT, and was buried there.
ii. Elvira Mary Ette Whitney, b. Wolcott, VT; d. young.
iii. Emily Rosette Whitney, b. 30 Jul 1837, Pittsfield, NH; d. 13 Apr 1893, Boston, MA, aged 55 yars 9 months 14 days, of pneumonia;[3] m. 30 May 1861, Boston, MA, Luther Melvin Underhill, b. 22 Jun 1837, Chester, NH, son of Jesse and Mary (Brown) Underhill; d. 22 Aug 1869, Auburn, NH, and was buried there; she resided Boston, MA, in 1874, superintendent of the dress-making department of Jordan, Marsh & Co.'s establishment in Washington Street, corner of Central Court. She m.(2) 26 Apr 1877, Boston, MA, Charles C. Moulton, b. ca. 1836, Wolcott, VT, son of Jonathan and Martha (-----) Moulton.[4]}
iv. Ella Annette Whitney, b. 11 Jun 1843, Pittsfield, NH; d. 24 Mar 1862, Chelsea, VT, of consumption, and was buried there; m. 28 Dec 1860, Pittsfield, NH, William Badger, son of Judge William Badger, or Concord, NH; one child, who lived five weeks.
v. Harvey Orlando Whitney, b. Pittsfield, NH; d. aged a few months.

Children of Freeman7 and Betsey Roberts (Smith) Whitney:

vi. Sarah Eliza8 Whitney, b. 13 Dec 1856, Chelsea or Northfield, VT; was living with her mother, at 49 South Central Street, Nashua, N.H., in Sept 1874, a member of the Chestnut Street Methodist Church; m. 3 Dec 1879, Nashua, NH, Fred W. Hill.[5]
