George Washington Whitney (Isaac Thomas), son of Isaac Thomas and Rachel (Reed) Whitney, was born 21 May 1843, Lorain Co., OH, [1] and died 2 Jun 1917, Phillips Co., MT. He was buried in Malta City Cemetery, Malta, MT.[2]
He married firstly, 20 Jan 1866, Casco, MI, Almira Harnden,[3] daughter of Simon S. and Marietta (Harrington) Harnden. She was born 10 May 1844, NY, and died 25 Apr 1908, Bedford, MI. She was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Battle Creek, MI.[4] They were divorced. Almira married secondly, 18 Sep 1894, Battle Creek, MI, John V. Stevens.
He married secondly, 3 Jul 1886, Sturgis, MI, Mary Jane (Aker) Miller, daughter of David and Sarah (Shaffer) Aker. She was born 25 Mar 1841, Darke Co., OH. She had married firstly, 25 Oct 1856, Medina Co., OH, Jacob Miller, from whom she had been divorced.[5] They were divorced.
He married thirdly, 21 Dec 1905, Allen Co., IN, Mary Jane (Aker)(Miller) Whitney, daughter of David and Sarah (Shaffer) Aker. She was born 25 Mar 1841, Darke Co., OH,[6] and died 31 Jan 1915, Warsaw, IN, aged 77 years.[7] She was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, IN.[8]
He married fourthly, 25 Feb 1917, Casco, MI, Mary E. (McCreary) Sumner, daughter of Alexander and Nancy (Stewart) McCreary. She was born about 1864, Topton, IN. She had married firstly, 28 Jan 1894, Madison Co., IN, James Sumner.[9]
Civil War Veteran, 30th Indiana, born in Ohio, moved to Kosciusko County, Indiana. in early 1850's with his parents, Isaac & Rachel [Reed] Whitney. Married Almira Harnden in 1866 in Casco Twp, Allegan County, Michigan. and had 2 daughters (Laura & Glencora). Married 2nd Mary Jane Miller in abt 1888. Final Civil War pension check returned from Leedy, MT (deceased). Cemetery plot purchased by nephew Amos Whitney of Malta, MT
Almira moved with her parents to Michigan about 1852. She lived in Allegan, MI, many years before moving to Battle Creek, MI. Per family lore, Almira ran her husband, George, off of her father's farm around 1869 for bad habits he picked up while in the Civil War. He never saw her or their two daughters again. Both remarried. According to her obituary, Almira died of blood poisoning at the home of her daughter, Laura (Whitney) Sumner, in Bedford, Calhoun County, MI.

George Washington and Mary J. (Aker)(Miller) Whitney had no children.
George Washington and Mary J. (Aker)(Miller)(Whitney) Whitney had no children.
George Washington and Mary E. (McCreary)(Sumner) Whitney had no children.
