Family:Whitney, Hamilton Franklin (1814-1855)
Dr. Hamilton Franklin9 Whitney (Russell8, Moses7, Samuel6, Samuel5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Russell8, was born 5 Aug 1814, VT, and died 30 Mar 1855, Jackson, PA.
He married firstly, 31 May 1841, Laura E. Bushnell, daughter of Pope and Sally (Hurlburt) Bushnell. She was born 2 Sep 1821, and died 15 Jun 1848.
He married secondly, 21 Apr 1849, Eunice Avery Tiffany, daughter of Leonard and Laura6 (Whitney) Tiffany. She was born 14 Feb 1823, Mount Pleasant, PA, and died after 1875. She married secondly, Elisha W. Forbes, of Susquehanna Depot, PA.
Laura Bushnell's mother was Sally Hurlburt. There was born at Goshen, CT, 26 Mar 1788, a triplet of girls who made one of the most remarkable records known. They were Sibyl, Sarah (or Sally) and Susan, children of Gideon and Anna (Beach) Hurlburt. For the period of 87 years this triplet was unbroken, Sibyl dying first at that age June, 1875. Her wedded name was Luddington. In October of the next year Susan (Mrs. Grennell) died at the age of 88. Sarah lived to the age of 95, dying Jan. 11, 1883. These sisters looked so much alike, particularly Mrs. Grennell and Mrs. Bushnell, that up to 75 or 80 years of age it was difficult for their most intimate friends to tell them apart.-[From Northern Christian Advocate, 10 Feb 1887.]
Dr. Hamilton Franklin was born in Vermont 5 Aug 1814. Studied medicine with Dr. Strong, of Honesdale, PA. Afterwards entered Jefferson Medical college at Philadelphia, PA, where he graduated with honors March, 1844. Practiced at Tonawanda, NY, Gibson and Jackson, PA, with much success, and died at the latter place. Was buried in the Lamb cemetery, near Jackson. He died 30 Mar 1855; resided Jackson, Pennsylvania.
