Henry A. Whitney, parentage unknown, was born about 1818, Greene County, NY, and died between 1892 and 1900.

He married, before 1863, Mercy Maria (Hoxsie) McNutt, daughter of Joseph and Martha (Spencer) Hoxsi. She was born about 1828, Johnstown, NY, and died 27 Jun 1905, Easthampton, MA, aged 77 years, of cerebral hemorrhage.[1] She, age 21, of Johnstown, had married firstly, 10 Nov 1849, Johnstown, NY, Ira C. McNutt, age 24, of Broadalbin,[2] who was born about 1825, Herkimer Co., NY, and died before 1860.

They lived at Green Island, Albany Co., NY, where he was a blacksmith.

i. Hannah M. McNutt, b. ca. 1851, NY; "Ellen M." in 1855; "Hannah" in 1870; "Anna M." in 1875; possibly "Anna J." in 1900; m. ----- Truesdell.
ii. Eugene H. McNutt, b. ca. 1853, NY; d. 1887, Cody, WY; m. Annie Archibold.
iii. Edward Ira McNutt, b. ca. 1855, NY.

ii. Julia Adeline Whitney, b. ca. 1867, NY; d. aft. 1880.
iii. Inez Margaret Whitney, b. ca. 1869, NY; m. 11 Jul 1905, Easthampton, MA, Walter H. Brown, b. ca. 1857, MI, son of Walter S. and Matilda (Kent) Brown.[3]
iv. Ina A. Whitney, b. ca. 1869, NY; d. aft. 1900, then unmarried.
v. Irene J. Whitney, b. ca. 1873, Albany Co., NY; d. aft. 1900; m. ----- Best.
